For Italian I wouldn't return to this particular restaurant BUT MY SWORDFISH was very good. Fun kind of surprise (maybe it reflects authentic Italian custom?). An interesting tradition for sending compliments to the chef by sending back a small "tip" and the kitchen staff pounds, beats pans, stomps in recognition for the compliment. I was expecting a more familiar menu of Italian selections but I felt the offerings were limited. They demonstrate excellent fine dining protocol, dirty dishes off the table immediately and accommodating to their diner's needs. I had the google address but the lack of signage was the confusing part. I had a reservation, walked from my hotel yet overshot it by two blocks (a kindly local on a bicycle was kind enough to walk me back the two blocks) this was after I called also with a hostess who was still unclear about the landmarks to get me there. They were very hard to walk to and locate because they lack good signage, actually inside a building, on the second floor and there is no sign with their restaurant name. The photo used on their website is a little deceptive, because is downtown and many buildings obscure the ocean from there. We wouldn't hesitate to use Carruth for special events in the future! and the 5 cases of wine that we purchased for the wedding all went down rather smoothly as well! We did have one minor issue regarding quoted pricing vs signed contract pricing (that was most likely due to Carruth event coordinating personnel turnover), but once it was understood, they were more than willing to resolve it for us and honor our originally quoted price. Our DJ had a special request to get in and setup his equipment a bit early, and they have no issues accommodating that. They were great with the planning, and allowed us to have a preview meeting to go over the logistics of how we wanted the layout to be and when we could get vendors in/out. (The membership discount on the venue fee didn't hurt much either!) We've been members for a few years now, so it holds a special place in our heart, and to be able to have our wedding reception there was just an added perk. ) and it turned out exactly as we were hoping for. It was not smart to let myself be convinced to go in the first place, don’t be like me! Booking is only a month ahead, by the way.Ĭarruth Cellars hosted our Wedding Reception a few weeks back (much to the chagrin of some of the Carruth Member looking to grab a glass of wine on a Saturday night, I'm sure. However, I’d suggest refraining from visiting a crowded place with poor ventilation at this period of the pandemic. It feels romantic, hidden, and it’s a small area which forces you to get closer/more personal. On New Years is was a bit warm, humid, and definitely crowded and I’ll just say I noticed the lack of ventilation and it was uncomfortable enough for me to remember it as the only slight downside I can remember from our awesome night. The only downside to this location I noticed was that the ventilation inside the main bar area and also inside Noble Experiment was poor or non-existent. It was great to be able to be surprised multiple times in a row with incredible flavors and combinations like nothing I’ve ever tasted or experienced. Give it a try! The dealer’s choice concept (bartender asks what you like taste wise and they come up with a unique drink for you) is genius! I always find it hard to order a drink I might like from a menu because I’m still a simpleton who doesn’t know what I like yet. Stunning interior design and service to match. ![]()
